Our earlier career members are residing (or have resided) in our college while undertaking their doctoral or other post-graduate studies. Others may have come to Melbourne to stay at our college for research, professional development or networking or visited just for one meeting, seminar or larger conference event.

Our in-career members are from all disciplines across the world – some working in their professions, some taking important career breaks and some in academia/research.

Our retired members have lived career, family and societal roles in all disciplines. They are leaders. They are influential, well-connected and genuinely interested and active in supporting graduates at all life stages.

This 100-year old association of graduates is thus of benefit to you, the graduate at any life stage.

It is inclusive, it is egalitarian and it enables networking of positive influence on career, the mind and in building endeavours.

By simply listing membership of The Graduate Union (MGUUoM) in a curriculum vitae, on LinkedIn and with the other initials at the end of your name, you are indicating to the world that you are part of a collective that values lifelong learning and its productive application.

The benefit of a CENTRAL and CONVENIENT MEETING PLACE:

When members are in Melbourne they know the convenience of The Graduate Union:

Accommodation. You might be here for one night or three years. Whatever the duration, you are in a safe, calm and mature college residence, mixing with the best and the brightest from around the world.

Meetings. You can use our many spaces and our catering facilities for small meetings (e.g. of your research group or of your not-for-profit) through to small-to-medium sized conferences (or their satellites) as well as for professional development and graduate-meet-jobs events. You can also simply meet another graduate or graduates to dine and drink together.

Easy to get to. Because we are located near the centre of Melbourne, the world’s most liveable city, and right next door to The University of Melbourne, you can hop on a bus, a tram or a bicycle (yes, for a few dollars, you can take a bicycle from a city-based bike rack and park it at the bike rack here) and be here in a few minutes. You can also walk and, if you use a car, we have a members-only car park.  Click here for map.

The benefit from generous businesses that offer DISCOUNTS for our MEMBERS: 

Australian Unity offers members of The Graduate Union discounted rates on home and contents insurance and a 7.5% discount on standard rates for health insurance. 

Hertz and Hertz #1 Club Gold. Graduate Union members are entitled to a discount on car rentals in Australia, New Zealand and participating locations worldwide. Joining and annual fees are also waived – a saving of at least $50 annually. A Customer Discount Program number is required.

De Bortoli Wines has long been providing us with quality wine. Our Graduate Union members can purchase selected wines while visiting us or by contacting us at admingh@graduatehouse.com.au.
