Graduate House - Accommodation and Functions Centre in Melbourne

Accommodation Overview

The Graduate Union is the only residential college which is only for graduates. The mature living, learning and meeting environment is ideal for those undertaking postgraduate doctoral and masters studies and for graduates visiting Melbourne for other purposes (sabbatical, book writing, research).

Our college has 114 rooms and apartments for residency, accommodating up to 120 people each night and over 600 each year.

The rooms and apartments are located across three wings. The older style William Berry Wing of adjoining terrace houses has single and double rooms (shared bathrooms) and one apartment. The Main Building has single and double rooms with en suites, and the newest Stella Langford Wing has medium and large self-contained apartments.

With Residency Membership you become part of our 101 year old international association of graduates who, together, acknowledge the privilege of their education and give back to society through global initiatives.

We are open for applications for residency. Follow these simple steps to apply:

Step 1. Find out if the Room or Apartment that you want is available

We do not want you to waste time completing our Residency Membership Application Form if we do not have the room or apartment for you. So, please fill in your residency requirements using our Online Accommodation Enquiry system.

We endeavour to respond by email on the same day (if received on a weekday) to give you a quick indication of potential availability and to send you the Residency Membership Application Form by email as an attachment.

We obviously cannot keep the room for you until your application is received and processed, and your reservation is confirmed.

Step 2. Complete and submit the Resident Membership Application Form

This link takes you to a sample application form. Please do not complete this form – it is an example to show the information we require for graduates requiring residency of a month or more.

Please complete only the Residency Membership Application Form that we send to you – this will have your Reservation Number (top right, front page of the form).

When completed, send the Residency Membership Application Form by email as an attachment to admingh@graduatehouse.com.au or by post to The Graduate Union, 220 Leicester Street, Carlton, VIC, Australia, 3053.

We will assess your application and respond within two weeks to let you know of your success in obtaining residency in this wonderful college. Your room or apartment are then secured once you have paid (details are in the Residency Membership Application Form).
